Surrounded by towering sandstone outcrops, Jubbah is home to extraordinary petroglyphs and inscriptions — carvings of aurochs, lions, cheetahs, and other wildlife that thrived here during Arabia’s lush, savannah-like past. Jebel Umm Sanman and nearby Shuwaymis were recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015, preserving these stunning traces of early human life. Our journey continues to Hegra (Madain Saleh), the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in Saudi Arabia. Once known as Al-Hijr, Hegra was the southernmost and second-most important city of the Nabatean Kingdom. Explore 94 monumental tombs, masterfully carved into the sandstone cliffs, showcasing the artistry and engineering brilliance of the Nabateans. As we guide you through these ancient structures, you’ll uncover the secrets of their inscriptions, tombs, and stone monuments. After a leisurely lunch, we turn to AlUla’s more recent past with a visit to AlUla Old Town. We will explore Jebel Ikmah, often referred to as an open-air library, where hundreds of inscriptions and carvings tell stories of ancient times. We then pass by the remains of the ancient city of Dedan, once a major oasis for traders traveling between Southern Arabia and the Mediterranean. After a leisurely lunch, we continue to the Old City of AlUla, which during the early Islamic era became an important staging post for pilgrims en route to Mecca.
